ABOUT THE TIPTON HOME
What is The Tipton Home?

The Tipton Home is made up of children of all
ages, house parents, and other staff. The purpose of Tipton Home is to
provide a loving, Christian atmosphere where children can grow physically,
mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Children who come to live at Tipton
Home are looking for friendship, warmth, love, and a place to call "home".
For various reasons, the families of these children cannot care for them.
These children need and desire a helping hand.

Tipton Home is, and always has been,
under the direction of the elders of the Tipton Church of Christ. These men
and their wives are an influence and encouragement to
the children and staff.

A family setting is provided at Tipton Home.
Children reside in a cottage with a set of house parents. These house parents
strive to meet the children's needs and provide a loving home. The children
attend the Tipton Public Schools. Many of the students excel in
academic areas, as well as in extracurricular activities. All children have
duties in their cottages as well as jobs on campus. These duties teach the
children to learn how to work together and prepare them for jobs when they
leave us.

The "Three
R's"
Tipton Home stresses the "Three R's":
respect, resourcefulness, and responsibility. If developed properly, these
traits are the essence of true self-esteem and the basis of success.

A child who has been taught respect for
others will transfer that respect to himself. Respect for one's self
increases self-esteem and the ability to work with others.

A child at Tipton Home is responsible not
just for his own behavior, but also for a daily routine of chores. A child who
is responsible will be much more willing to accept school assignments and
other tasks later in life.
A resourceful child, one who has learned to
do a lot with a little, will be prepared to try repeatedly until he
succeeds. He will learn to succeed with the talents and material goods
which are available. He will not give up when obstacles confront him. The
Three R's add up to learning: learning about life, people, and success.
Success in life is dependent upon determination, perseverance, and effort.
These are the things which Tipton Home puts a great emphasis. It is our
desire that our children become worthwhile Christian additions to the world
in which they live. This can be accomplished with the talents each has been
given and the fortitude he has developed.
How do I place a child in Tipton Home? Child Application Forms
The Tipton Home provides care to dependent,
neglected, or abused children regardless of sex, race, or religion.
Do you know someone Tipton Home might help?
Referrals for children come from parents, grandparents, preachers, friends,
caseworkers, or anyone who knows a child who needs a stable and structured
environment in which to live.
Legal guardians maintain their legal rights
and give written consent for the child to be placed. Children are placed on
a voluntary basis.
It is our desire to help as many children as
possible and to strengthen them and their families.
